Dungy, the first Black head coach inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in the modern era, responded with a pointed critique. Quoting scripture, he asked Harris, “Dear VP Harris: I hear you make this statement all the time. Exactly what ‘faith’ are you talking about?” Dungy cited Biblical passages to challenge her claim, including references to Genesis and Jeremiah that emphasize the sanctity of life. “Are you talking about that faith or some nebulous, general ‘faith’ that says we’re good enough, and smart enough to make our own decisions?”

Dungy also stood behind former NFL tight end Benjamin Watson, who responded to another Harris tweet, which implied that pro-life laws were responsible for a young mother’s tragic death. Watson corrected her, saying the issue was a delay in medical care, not Georgia’s pro-life laws. He urged Harris to focus on the real problem instead of pushing a political narrative.

Not everyone agreed with Dungy, though. One commenter asked how he could support Trump, saying, “I love what you stand for coach. But how do you support someone like Trump? Dungy responded, reminding the critic of a previous post where he called out Trump’s stance on Florida’s Amendment 4.

As the nation debates abortion, Trump’s position remains nuanced. In a recent interview, his press secretary clarified that Trump believes six weeks is too short of a timeframe for an abortion ban and supports exceptions for cases involving rape, incest, and the life of the mother. Harris, on the other hand, continues to frame Trump as pushing for an all-out abortion ban, despite his repeated clarifications.
