An Arizona Cardinals fan was caught in an unexpected political clash at the stadium during Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Rams. Susan Rosener, a season ticket holder, was forced by stadium staff to remove her “Make America Great Again” hat before entering State Farm Stadium, though the team has since apologized for the incident, as reported by Fox News.

The Cardinals reached out to Rosener, stating, “In an isolated incident at Sunday’s game, a stadium security member misunderstood a policy on prohibited items.” The team clarified that its ban on political signage, flags, and displays doesn’t extend to clothing items like hats. “We have communicated with the individual involved and apologized for the misunderstanding,” the team said in a statement.

Rosener, a proud supporter of former President Trump, recounted her experience. As she was heading to her seat with her husband to watch the Cardinals’ 41-10 victory, a staff member reportedly told her, “You can’t bring that in here.”

Despite Rosener’s pushback, the staff member insisted the hat had to go. “In retrospect, I wish I stood my ground,” Rosener told News 12 Phoenix, highlighting her hesitation to cause a stir due to her season tickets.

The story gained traction on social media when Turning Point Action’s Alyssa Goncales posted about the incident. She shared screenshots from others at the game who claimed they were also told to remove their MAGA gear. The Cardinals, however, maintained they had only received one complaint but acknowledged that no such ban should have applied.

This isn’t the first time MAGA merchandise has caused friction at sporting events. Conservative influencer Dion Cini, who was once escorted out of MLB games for hanging “Trump Won” banners, weighed in on the incident. “That’s just the country we’ve become,” Cini said, stating he would never comply with demands to remove his MAGA gear.

In response to the ordeal, Arizona gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake rallied her supporters, calling for Cardinals fans to wear MAGA hats at every home game. She posted on X, “Every [Cardinals] fan who loves America should wear their MAGA hat to EVERY AZ Cardinals game this season.”

Meanwhile, the political atmosphere in Arizona remains heated. With illegal immigration concerns and election integrity questions at the forefront, the state continues to be a battleground as the next election approaches. Arizona’s Democratic Secretary of State Adrian Fontes is under fire after a coding error called into question the citizenship status of 100,000 voters. Fontes insists he will still send out ballots to those affected, sparking further debate on election security.
