Senator JD Vance didn’t hold back when it came to Taylor Swift’s recent endorsement of Kamala Harris for president. The Ohio Republican made it clear that he appreciates Swift’s musical talents but believes her political influence falls flat.

As reported by Fox News, Vance said, “We admire Taylor Swift’s music, but I don’t think most Americans, whether they like her music, are fans of her or not, are going to be influenced by a billionaire celebrity who I think is fundamentally disconnected from the interests and the problems of most Americans.”

This all came after Swift took to Instagram to endorse Harris, posting a picture of herself cradling her cat while sharing her support. In her message, Swift wrote, “I will be voting for Harris because she fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them.” That didn’t seem to sway Vance, who remains convinced that the Trump campaign offers a more compelling message, especially for women voters.

“When grocery prices skyrocket by 20%, it’s the average American family feeling the pinch—not Taylor Swift,” Vance continued, taking a clear swipe at the celebrity elite. “When housing prices become impossible for the average family to afford, it doesn’t touch Taylor Swift or any other billionaire sitting comfortably in their mansions. But it hits hard for middle-class Americans struggling to make ends meet, those who are just trying to provide for their families and keep a roof over their heads. They’re the ones facing the real consequences, not the celebrity class living in a completely different reality.”

Donald Trump himself appeared unfazed by Swift’s endorsement of Harris.

During a Fox & Friends interview earlier in the day, Trump said, “It was just a question of time. She couldn’t possibly endorse Biden. You look at Biden, you couldn’t possibly endorse him.” Trump added, “She’s a very liberal person. She seems to always endorse a Democrat. And she’ll probably pay a price for it in the marketplace.”
