According to the Manassas Police Department (MPD), officers were alerted to the situation by a resident who spotted the young girl in distress near the intersection of Quarry Road and Zebedee Street just before 8:40 a.m.
The investigation revealed that the girl was walking along Clover Hill Road on her way to school when Cabrera, driving a red Jeep SUV, approached her.
The suspect allegedly identified himself as a police officer and ordered her to get into his vehicle.
Once she hesitated, Cabrera reportedly exited the car, grabbed her by the arm, and forcibly placed her into the front passenger seat.
He then drove away, but the girl managed to escape after the vehicle reached Quarry Road. Fortunately, the girl was able to flee and seek help from a nearby resident, who then contacted the police.
Authorities initially described the suspect as a Hispanic man, around 40 years old, with black hair and a beard.
However, after an extensive two-day investigation and a search warrant executed at a residence in the 10000 block of Makelys Way, detectives were able to identify Cabrera as the suspect and took him into custody on Friday, September 8.

Cabrera is being held without bond at the Prince William County Adult Detention Center.

He was reportedly released into the U.S. after being apprehended by border officials, raising concerns about the handling of illegal alien cases and the safety risks posed to American communities.
The charges against Cabrera include abduction, robbery, impersonation of a law enforcement officer, and petit larceny. While police are not releasing specific details of Cabrera’s motives or intentions, the nature of his actions has sparked outrage among residents.

Given the severity of the charges and his immigration status, Cabrera is being held without bond pending further legal proceedings.
This case has intensified scrutiny over the nation’s immigration policies, as critics have long voiced concerns about the potential dangers posed by individuals entering the U.S. illegally.
The case also highlights the importance of remaining vigilant when it comes to personal safety, especially for young people traveling alone.
The police department has reassured the community that there is no ongoing threat, but they are continuing to investigate the incident to ensure all facts are uncovered.
Anyone with information is encouraged to contact local authorities.
As this case develops, it serves as a reminder of the importance of addressing immigration enforcement and ensuring that those who commit crimes are held accountable, regardless of their immigration status.
