In the crowded field of campaign advertisements this election cycle, Hung Cao, the Republican Senate candidate from Virginia and a Navy combat veteran, has produced a standout ad that’s impossible to ignore. His message is chillingly clear: the stakes are high, and the consequences of a Democratic victory could be dire, as reported by Red State.
Cao’s ad stands in stark contrast to the melodrama often seen in Democratic campaigns. With compelling visuals, he recounts his family’s harrowing escape from Saigon just before Communist forces took control of South Vietnam.
“This is the scariest sound you’ll hear when you live in a communist country,” Cao states, punctuating his point with three forceful knocks on a table. “This is the last sound my parents heard when their fathers were taken away in the middle of the night. They never saw their loved ones again.”

Cao illustrates the emotional toll of living under tyranny. “This is the sound of losing your freedom,” he continues. “That’s my family’s real-life story.” His heartfelt account reflects the journey from a life of fear to the freedom found in America, the “most generous country on earth.”

Graduating from the U.S. Naval Academy and earning advanced degrees from prestigious institutions, Cao highlights his dedication to serving America. “I’ve spent my life trying to repay my debt to America. With 25 years in Navy Special Operations and combat experience in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Somalia, I understand the value of our freedoms,” he asserts.
However, Cao warns that America is veering into dangerous territory under the Biden-Harris administration. He calls out Vice Presidential candidate Kamala Harris and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz for their radical policies.
In August, he challenged Walz’s claims about his military service, exposing the hypocrisy that often goes unchecked in political discourse. “I have tried to take my time in responding to stories about Tim Walz’s service record. The hypocrisy astounds me,” he noted on social media.

Cao demands accountability, pointing out that while he faced intense scrutiny about his service, Walz has skated by with misleading narratives. “In the Navy, we talked about something called ‘pulling a deployment muscle.’ It seems to me that Tim Walz might have suffered just that,” he quips, emphasizing that Walz’s political career is built on falsehoods.
Cao’s ad serves as a wake-up call. He questions why the media has not pressed Walz on his dubious claims about military service.
“You were supposed to deploy to Iraq, but you quit so you didn’t have to go, and then implied for years that you did. Why?” he asks, underscoring the seriousness of honesty in public service.
In this high-stakes election, voters must decide whether they will choose authenticity and dedication or continue down the path of deception.
