Former Fox News host Bill O’Reilly recently sat down with NewsNation’s Leland Vittert for a segment titled “Bill O’Reilly’s Confronting the Presidents: America’s Best and Worst,” where he shared his thoughts on past U.S. presidents, including favorable comments about former President Barack Obama.
The segment, which will air ahead of the release of O’Reilly’s new book, offered a deeper look into his assessments of various American leaders.
During the interview with NewsNation anchor Leland Vittert, O’Reilly made it clear that he holds a positive view of Obama’s presidency, particularly for the impact the 44th president had on minority communities. “I don’t think Obama was a bad president at all. In fact, you could put him in the good category because he uplifted a portion of the population that needed to be uplifted, people of color,” O’Reilly said.

O’Reilly also highlighted Obama’s work ethic, calling him “the hardest-working president in modern history.” This praise for Obama stood out as O’Reilly reflected on their past interactions.
He mentioned that, while he may not have agreed with all of Obama’s policies, he did not believe Obama was harmful to the country. “We were very fair to Barack Obama in ‘Confronting the Presidents.’ We had a good relationship with Obama. I knew what he was doing, and why he was doing it. And he wasn’t, in his mind, or in my mind, damaging the country,” O’Reilly explained. “Obama is the hardest working modern president.”
O’Reilly’s comments on Obama contrast sharply with his critique of current President Joe Biden. In the same interview, O’Reilly remarked that Biden lacks the energy and vigor needed for the presidency, comparing his work ethic unfavorably to that of Obama. “Obama didn’t like Biden because Biden was like taking a nap every three hours,” O’Reilly said, adding that Biden’s approach to governing has included policies he disagrees with, especially regarding economic issues. “I didn’t agree with his mass spending tactics because I don’t think that works in the long run for the working American. Can’t raise taxes the way these guys want to raise them on the Democratic side.”
In addition to discussing Obama and Biden, O’Reilly also provided an overview of his new book, Confronting the Presidents: No Spin Assessments from Washington to Biden.
The book, set to release soon, provides O’Reilly’s take on several American presidents, assessing their strengths and weaknesses without the “spin” often seen in political discourse.
O’Reilly’s commentary on past leaders is expected to reflect his no-nonsense style, similar to the approach he took during his years on television.
The interview with NewsNation is set to air on September 15 at 9 p.m. EDT, offering viewers a preview of O’Reilly’s insights into U.S. presidential history and his critical look at the current political climate.
