Nicole Shanahan, who once ran alongside Robert F. Kennedy Jr., pulled no punches during a Tuesday interview on Fox News, sharply criticizing the Democratic Party for its treatment of Kennedy.

Her comments, made on “Jesse Watters Primetime,” highlight a growing disillusionment with the party’s abandonment of what were once its core principles: dignity and respect, as reported by the Daily Caller.

Shanahan expressed deep disappointment in the Democratic Party, which she believes is losing its moral compass. “This is wild,” Shanahan remarked. “I’m asking myself what happened to the party of ‘when they go low, we go high.’ Right now, they’re just going lower and lower. I’m shocked, I’m saddened, and I’m worried for them, honestly. They’ve lost their soul. They’ve lost their direction.”

Her criticism comes at a time of increasing tension within the party, especially concerning its handling of Kennedy. Despite facing relentless attacks, particularly from powerful pharmaceutical companies, Kennedy has shown remarkable resilience.

Shanahan praised him, saying, “Robert F. Kennedy is one of the kindest human beings I’ve had the pleasure to get to know. He said it the other day, ‘I don’t have a bone of revenge in my body.’ This is someone who’s been attacked from all different angles for years now. Big Pharma’s come after him harder than just about anybody. And I have to say, Bobby shows up with grace every time.”

Kennedy himself has been vocal about the personal toll these attacks have taken, yet he has remained committed to a non-retaliatory stance. Shanahan recalled his advice when she joined his campaign: “When I joined this campaign, he said, ‘You’re going to get attacked in ways you would have never expected. But just remember, every attack is a signal from God, show up with kindness.’”

This rift within the Democratic Party is not just ideological. Kennedy Jr. has openly criticized party leaders after being barred from the upcoming New York election ballot. Even before his campaign suspension, the Democratic Party had been actively trying to disqualify him from ballots across multiple states.

In a previous interview with Sean Hannity, Kennedy said, “The Democratic Party, which says they’re trying to save democracy from Donald Trump, canceled the primaries and canceled democracy within the party.”

Adding to the controversy, Michigan and Wisconsin recently denied Kennedy’s request to remove his name from their states’ ballots, despite the suspension of his campaign. Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson’s senior press secretary, Cheri Hardmon, explained that due to Kennedy’s status as a minor party candidate and the legal constraints around elector selection, his name must remain on the ballot. “Minor party candidates cannot withdraw, so his name will remain on the ballot in the November election,” Hardmon told the Daily Caller.
