Vice President Kamala Harris didn’t waste time taking shots at former President Donald Trump following his interview with tech billionaire Elon Musk on X Spaces, the social media platform previously known as Twitter. Harris’ campaign slammed Trump for pandering to “self-obsessed rich guys” like Musk and accused him of turning his back on the middle class, as reported by Fox News.
Trump’s Monday night appearance on X Spaces, despite a rocky start with technical hiccups, drew millions of listeners. Musk, always the gentleman, later extended an invitation to Harris for her own session on X Spaces—though one might doubt she’ll take him up on that.
During the interview, Musk handed Trump the mic to discuss a range of issues. Trump covered his usual hits: immigration, inflation, and his desire to dismantle the Department of Education in favor of state control. He even went as far as to suggest that some states, like California, might struggle without federal oversight—a clear swipe at deep blue states.

“I want to close up the Department of Education, move education back to the states… Of the 50 [states], I would bet that 35 would do great. And 15 of them, or, you know, 20 of them, will be as good as Norway. You know, Norway is considered great,” Trump stated, not missing the chance to jab at the left.
Harris’ team, led by spokesperson Joseph Costello, hit back hard, mocking the technical troubles and labeling Trump’s agenda as “extremism” on full display. “Donald Trump’s entire campaign is in service of people like Elon Musk and himself—self-obsessed rich guys who will sell out the middle class and who cannot run a livestream in the year 2024,” Costello sneered.
This exchange comes as Trump continues to distance himself from the Heritage Foundation’s Project 2025, a plan loaded with conservative wish-list items like axing the Department of Education, criminalizing pornography, and rejecting abortion as healthcare. Trump has brushed off the initiative, calling parts of it “ridiculous” and distancing himself from what critics call an authoritarian agenda.
Trump’s Monday interview marked his return to X after nearly a year of silence on the platform. His last notable post was his mugshot after Musk reinstated his account post-January 6, 2021, Capitol riot suspension.
Towards the end of the interview, Trump didn’t mince words about the current administration. “This country is going down, and these people are bad people that we’re running against. And they’re liars. They make statements. They do things that are so bad. They say they’re going to make a strong border. They say they’ve been great on the border, and they’ve been the worst in history.”
He also delivered a scathing critique of Harris, branding her as a “radical-left lunatic” who is more liberal than Bernie Sanders. “If she’s going to be our president, very quickly you’re not going to have a country anymore,” he warned.
The conversation took a darker turn when Trump addressed President Biden’s recent decision to suspend his re-election campaign. He described it as a Democratic “coup” that forced Biden out, despite his reluctance to step down. “They just took him out back behind the shed and basically shot him,” Musk chimed in, with Trump agreeing that Biden has been “the worst president in history.”
