In a significant law enforcement success, the Cochise County Sheriff’s Office in Arizona has apprehended Ronald Lee Syvrud, a convicted sex offender who recently threatened the life of former President Donald Trump. Syvrud was taken into custody at 2:30 pm local time without incident, according to the Sheriff’s Office. Charges are still pending, but the arrest brings some relief after a tense manhunt, as reported by The Post Millennial.
Sheriff Mark Dannels issued a public safety warning, stating that Syvrud was wanted in connection with threats to assassinate a presidential candidate, later identified by the New York Post as Donald Trump. These threats surfaced just as Trump visited Sierra Vista, Arizona, a town within Cochise County, to inspect the southern border and meet with families affected by crimes committed by illegal aliens. Trump’s visit highlighted the ongoing concerns about border security, a critical issue in the 2024 election.
Syvrud had taken to social media under the alias “Rudy Lee” to express his deep-seated animosity toward Trump and conservatives. In one of his posts, he sarcastically told Trump supporters to “Keep drinking your radical right-wing ‘orange’ koolade.” He also responded to Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene’s support for Steve Bannon by calling her “blind.”

The seriousness of Syvrud’s threats escalated with a Facebook comment made Wednesday night, where he mentioned Trump’s visit to Naco, Arizona, near the Mexican border. Syvrud posted a comment on Facebook saying, “tRump is going through here tomorrow and going to Naco, AZ to the port of entry to Mexico. There’s a bar right there called the Gay 90s. Noooo. It’s not a gay bar. Dawn and I will be there early. I bought a scope for my 44 revolver. Unlike that dweeb that missed. I won’t. Maybe I’m joking. …….Or am I. wink, wink.”wink.” Under another alias “Sven Lee,” he shared a shocking image depicting Jesus drowning Trump, accompanied by the caption, “What Would Jesus Do?”

In another alarming post, Syvrud applauded a failed assassination attempt on Trump during a rally in July, giving the would-be assassin an “A- for effort” and lamenting that the attempt wasn’t successful. He also falsely accused Trump of being a sex offender, further showcasing his deep-seated hatred.
Thankfully, with Syvrud now in custody, authorities have neutralized a potential threat to the former President, although the investigation is ongoing as they work to determine the full scope of his plans.
