Haley Robles, a spokesperson for the Fairmont Chicago, confirmed the occurrence and assured that the hotel staff acted promptly to manage the situation. “We can confirm that a group of individuals caused a disruption at a DNC-related breakfast event at our hotel this morning,” Robles stated. “Our team acted immediately to clean and sanitize the area, ensuring that the event could continue without further incident.”

Reports indicate that an FBI van was observed outside the hotel following the incident, and the federal agency has launched an investigation into the matter.

While it remains unclear whether the maggots were discovered before any delegates consumed their food, the quick response by law enforcement and hotel staff likely prevented any potential harm.

The offenders are believed to have then left the area. One victim was treated and released on-scene. Along with CPD, FBI-Chicago is assisting in the investigation. No further information is available at this time,” the spokesperson said.

Indiana delegate Tracy Boyd expressed relief and gratitude for the swift actions taken by both the Chicago Police Department and the FBI. “They protected us, of course, and turned it around in minutes,” Boyd said. “I really do want to give a shout-out to the hotel staff and leadership.”
