As the Democratic National Convention gets underway in Chicago, the event is already marked by heated clashes. The latest altercation involves Kamala Harris’s vocal supporter, Roland Martin, and local Chicago activist Ja’Mal Green. This conflict began when Martin, a well-known host and former CNN contributor, took to X (formerly Twitter) and his show to lob insults at Green, dismissing him as “dumb” for criticizing Harris’s latest housing policy, as reported by The Gateway Pundit.
Green, a passionate independent activist, previously questioned Harris’s $25K down payment plan for first-time homebuyers on social media. He raised concerns about the plan’s true intentions, asking, “Does anybody want to tell me what ‘first generation’ is code for? Lol. Pay attention to the cryptic words being used to show us what agenda is their agenda. Yet you literally have black folks acting like the Democrats will prioritize you when you have the lowest homeownership rate in the country at 44%. Like stop!”

Martin fired back, saying, “Are you that dumb, Ja’mal Green? If Black folks have the lowest homeownership rates, that means incentives for first-time buyers will appeal to Black folks. Are you that clueless?”

Green wasn’t about to let this slide. He showed up at the DNC with one mission: to confront Martin face-to-face. After the encounter, Green tweeted, “LOL Roland Martin called me all types of names yesterday on Twitter and on his show & he ran from me today.” He described how Martin, in what can only be called a display of fear, had a woman step between them while he called for security.
“I ain’t never seen a man more scared in my life. Keep my name out your mouth, I want all the smoke!” Green declared. He went on to criticize Martin further, saying, “He had a woman protect him after he was talking crazy to me. He could’ve had a conversation as a man.”

In another post, Green vowed to stand against what he described as “black Democrat sellout fools like Roland Martin” who he believes disrespect young voices speaking the truth. Green made it clear that he wouldn’t tolerate being disrespected by someone who, in his words, is a “Democrats’ paid provocateur.” He added, “I’m a grown man with 3 kids, ain’t no man gone come after me unprovoked and not get checked.”
Green also seized the moment to criticize the state of Chicago under Democratic leadership, pointing out the city’s issues that have been conveniently hidden during the DNC. From the city’s migrant crisis and violence to its high unemployment rate, Green highlighted the grim realities that Chicagoans face daily. He sarcastically welcomed the Democrats to the city, saying, “We have a very beautiful city that is plagued with bad leadership. Enjoy your stay, eat at some of our amazing restaurants and party at our best bars and nightclubs. One thing we do know how to do well is have a good time! WELCOME TO CHICAGO!”
