Caitlin Clark, the standout rookie for the Indiana Fever, continues to impress in her first WNBA season despite facing tough physical challenges on the court.
During Wednesday’s game against the Connecticut Sun, Clark was knocked down hard by a robust pick from Alyssa Thomas, the Sun's center.
The incident occurred in the third quarter when Clark, in pursuit of a Sun player, encountered Thomas on the perimeter.

Thomas set a solid screen using her right shoulder, which sent Clark crashing to the floor.
The collision prompted officials to call an offensive foul on Thomas, categorizing it as a common foul in a game noted for its physicality.

This season, Clark has been on the receiving end of rough plays more than once, particularly in matches against the Chicago Sky.

Carter’s aggressive move initially deemed a common foul, was later upgraded to a flagrant after she knocked Clark to the ground. Post-game, Carter described her action as a "basketball play."
In another encounter with the Sky, Angel Reese, a fellow rookie, struck Clark in the head during a block attempt.
This, too, resulted in Clark falling heavily, and upon review, the officials penalized Reese with a flagrant foul. Reese, like her teammate Carter, defended her action as part of the game.
Despite these challenges, Clark’s performance continues to soar.
She broke the WNBA rookie single-season record for 3-pointers in the very game against the Sun, by sinking a step-back 26-footer over DiJonai Carrington.
This milestone basket, scored in the first quarter, marked just one highlight in a season filled with exceptional performances from the rookie.
Clark's prowess has not only been about setting records but also contributing significantly to her team's success.
The game concluded with the Fever securing a narrow victory over the Sun, 84-80, underscoring the competitive nature of the matchup. With this win, Indiana improves to a 15-16 record, positioning themselves seventh in the overall WNBA standings.
