Mossimo Giannulli, the fashion designer husband of Lori Loughlin, has been released from home confinement after serving five months in prison for his role in the college admissions scandal.
Prison records obtained by Entertainment Tonight show that Giannulli was released from community confinement on Friday, a day earlier than scheduled. This came after he was released from USP Lompoc prison in Santa Barbara, California, and transferred to a halfway house in Long Beach, California, on April 2.
Giannulli and Loughlin pled guilty last year to charges related to them allegedly paying $500,000 in bribe money to have their two daughters admitted to the University of Southern California as members of the crew team, even though neither girl had ever rowed before. Loughlin served two months in prison, and was released at the end of December. At the time of Giannulli’s release from prison, a source told People Magazine that Loughlin was “relieved” that he was out.
“Lori is relieved that he was released from the prison. Mossimo is still in federal custody though,” the source said.
Giannulli spent 56 days in solitary confinement due to COVID-19 when he reported to prison. Back in January, he asked a judge to allow him to serve out the rest of his sentence at home, with his lawyers arguing that the time Giannulli spent in quarantine took a “significant” toll on his “mental, physical, and emotional well-being.” The judge, however, was not having any of it.
“Although defendant’s quarantine was longer than anticipated, he has since been released to the general population,” Judge Nathaniel M. Gorton wrote in response. “He has given no extraordinary or compelling reason why his current circumstances in the camp warrant immediate release.”

A source said back in December that Loughlin was “stressed” about her husband.
“This whole nightmare won’t stop completely until Mossimo is released too. But Lori still seems positive,” the source said at the time.
