Kelly Ripa just shocked her fans by revealing that she has secretly been filming her morning talk show from the Caribbean for weeks after she became stranded there amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.

The “Live with Kelly and Ryan” host revealed that she, her husband, and their three children had been on a tropical family vacation when the coronavirus caused the world to effectively shut down. During a virtual town hall with ABC employees on Thursday, Ripa explained that they had “planned a trip for our family” and just three days after arriving “everything changed.”

“I mean, everything shut down; the government shut down; our country shut down. I hate to use the word stuck, but we were. We decided to stay where we are,” Ripa reportedly said, according to Fox News.

She added that she has since been carrying out her hosting duties from her tropical vacation spot, the location of which has not been disclosed.

“It was supposed to be a two-week trip and we wound up getting right back to work,” Ripa said. “Ryan [Seacrest] and I both decided it was better to do the show because we just felt like with everything going on in the world that perhaps, some normalcy just doing what we normally do, even though it was like in very unusual circumstances, would be the best thing for us.”

The veteran talk show host added that it’s been a “great benefit” that she and her husband, Mark Consuelos, were joined on the trip by their three children: daughter, Lola, 18, and sons, Michael, 22, and Joaquin, 17. Michael graduated from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts this past week, and in his congratulatory social media post for him, Consuelos hinted that their family was somewhere away from home.

“Happy virtual graduation MJC. We are so proud of you. #quarentinegraduation2020 we know it’s not what we all expected but we are so grateful to be all together on what I know must seem like the longest family trip ever….” he wrote.

This also comes days after Ripa fired back at her haters who have been criticizing her for her appearance since she began doing her show from “home.”

“I don’t care. I have a new outlook on life,” Ripa responded. “Certain things don’t matter anymore and my appearance is one of those things that just don’t matter.”
