Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds and his wife Blake Lively of “Gossip Girl” fame just announced that they are stepping up to help fight coronavirus by donating $400,000 to hospitals in the New York City area, which has been hit especially hard by the pandemic. This announcement came after the couple donated an astounding $1 million to Feeding America and Food Banks Canada to help them fight the COVID-19 pandemic globally.

E! News reported that Reynolds and Lively made a $100,000 donation to each of the four hardest hit hospitals in New York: Elmhurst, NYU Hospital, Mount Sinai and Northern Westchester. The publication was told that the couple is hoping this move will encourage others to do their part in helping to out with relief efforts for this devastating pandemic.

After the couple made their donation to Feeding America last week, the organization publicly thanked them on social media.

“Thank you, Ryan and Blake, for your incredible support. Your gift means so much to us and the millions of people we serve,” the volunteer program wrote. “And to everyone who you inspire to give during these uncertain times – every dollar and minute makes a difference.”

Reynolds’ company of Aviation American Gin has also stepped up during this crisis, donating $15,000 to the United States Bartender’s Guild. On top of that, the brand has announced that they will donate a 30% tip for every bottle delivered through May 1st to the guild.

“Do your part to #FlattenTheCurve while we Support Those Who Serve Us. #TipYourBartender,” the gin company wrote in an Instagram post.

Many other celebrities are stepping up to do their part during this crisis as well. “Happy” singer Pharrell Williams just asked his fans to donate to a GoFundMe campaign that aims to help hospitals during the coronavirus outbreak.

“Hospitals are running low on masks, gowns, and other critical items. We need to replenish their supplies. Take action, make a donation, and ask others to join the fight. We’re in this together. Let’s protect the responders on the frontlines,” Williams said last week.

Fashion label Ralph Lauren has also stepped up, announcing that it will be giving $10 million to coronavirus relief efforts through its charitable foundation.
