1.) Rufus the hawk has an important job to do. Some tennis venues place little metal spikes around the stadiums to stop pigeons from nesting in the stands. Others use fake plastic owls. Not Wimbledon. It has a live hawk named Rufus, whose job it is to actually scare away pesky pigeons — and if he manages to snag a nice breakfast at the same time, well, that’s a perk of the job.

Rufus even has his own Twitter account. You can follow him and see photos of this majestic bird keeping the stands clear.
