Any desire that costs us our integrity means we’re buying less than the best.

Our strongest physical desires often cloud our mind to the extent that we justify bending or breaking God’s rules in order to attain what we want.

If we desire blessings from God, we must take His Word to heart.

The Bible says, “He who has clean hands and a pure heart, who does not lift up his soul to what is false and does not swear deceitfully. He will receive blessing from the Lord and righteousness from the God of his salvation” (Psalms 24:4-5).

God is pure and holy — and so are His blessings. But when our desires lead us to steal, lie, gossip, cheat, worry, or in any way violate God’s rules — then we are separating ourselves from His holiness.

Thus, we are also divorcing ourselves from His blessings.

Whatever we’re after is far less special than what God planned for us.

If we are God’s beloved children, He longs to GIVE us His blessings—we don’t have to break His rules to get them.

When I think about the many desires I pursued by compromising my integrity, it is like watching a tragic movie where the only plot is self-destructive heartbreak.

Diligently seeking God’s presence has completely changed my storyline.
