We all have faith in something — because none of us know everything.
But how do we develop our faith in Almighty God?
Well, it’s by experiencing the power and wisdom of His presence.
But to be in His presence, we must be holy.
Holiness is developed by obedience to His Word.
Disobedience causes us to be distanced from God — and then we are plagued with doubt, instead of being comforted by faith in Him.
Doubting Thomas asked Jesus, “Lord, we do not know where you are going. How can we know the way?” (John 14:5)
Jesus replied, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me” (vs 6).
In this very intimate conversation with His disciples, Jesus went on to explain exactly how they would be enabled to engage the power and wisdom of His presence: “If you love me, you will keep my commandments. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, to be with you forever, even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know him, for he dwells with you and will be in you” (John 14:15-17).
Obedience to God places us in His presence — and opens our mind and heart to the reality that the blind world can’t see or comprehend.
When we’ve lived with a strong sense of God’s presence, it’s so compelling we don’t want to disobey Him.
When we do, what we lose is far greater than what we gain.
Our obedience places us in God’s presence — which enables us to experience His Spirit.
When we live life by looking through the lens of God, His wisdom and power multiply our faith.
Reality dawns brightly and compels us to walk in the light.
God’s presence is the defining force that constantly sways my heart to submit to Him.
His Spirit gives me faith to walk on paths I never dreamed possible.
