‘God Is Our Greatest Source of Confidence, Power and Wisdom’

When we’re overwhelmed by the world, we may be encouraged by remembering those to whom God gives His power.

The Bible says, “For the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men. For consider your calling, brothers: not many of you were wise according to worldly standards, not many were powerful, not many were of noble birth. But God chose what is foolish in the world to shame the wise; God chose what is weak in the world to shame the strong; God chose what is low and despised in the world, even things that are not, to bring to nothing things that are, so that no human being might boast in the presence of God” (1 Corinthians‬ ‭1:25-29‬).

When we look around us and see the rich, those who seem wise, and people who are powerful — we tend to cower in fear.

Jesus didn’t.

Jesus was a social and religious reject.

But it never deterred Him from His mission.

He knew the truth — that the Spirit residing within Him was more powerful and wise than the crowd who surrounded Him.

He set the course for us to do the same when He conquered death and the grave.

Why would we ever be afraid of the “powerful” and “wise” crowd when — we know we win in the end?

We’re only afraid — when we’re not walking close to God because we know we’re alone on the world’s turf and — by ourselves, we’re no match for evil.

Pride in our own strength separates us from God’s power and wisdom.

But when we’re close to God, we are invigorated with the knowledge that we can do all things through Christ.

We know our greatest strength and wisdom is in Him.

We’ve seen Him work — and we know His wisdom and power is without match.

Humility draws us close to God — our greatest source of confidence, power and wisdom.
