In a world filled with chaos and hate, it seems impossible that we could ever live in a state of perfect peace.

Yet the Bible promises: “You keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you” (Isaiah‬ ‭26:3‬).

This promise of “perfect peace” does not come to pass without our mind being fixated upon God.

What does that look like?

Well, He must be our most important purpose for living and then, our every goal — big or small — is grounded in our desire to glorify Him.

The Bible says, “Whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God” (1 Corinthians 10‬:31).

How does this translate to life in the real world?

We were created for God’s glory. And when we choose to live for His glory, we are living within our design.

Well, if I go to the office and have purposed to glorify God with my life, my choices are different, I treat my staff with love and consideration, I am courteous to opposing counsel, I am ministry minded to folks who come to see me about their legal problems — and I work hard.

I don’t cheat, lie, or cut corners.

All these actions are a reflection of giving Him glory — and increase my peace.

When I do the opposite, then life is tumultuous.

When we stay close to God, we walk in His perfect peace.

We were created for God’s glory. And when we choose to live for His glory, we are living within our design.

When we live primarily for our own glory, or for the pursuit of worldly gain, we cannot possess God’s perfect peace (Rom‬ans 8‬:5-6‬).

Perfect peace is a gift from the Prince of Peace.

When we know Him — we live in it.
