Will it soon be bye bye Babs?
Outspoken anti-Trump celebrity Barbra Streisand, claiming today’s political climate is “making [her] fat” (among other concerns), is again mulling a move to Canada should the GOP retain control of the House after the midterms, as The New York Times’ Maggie Haberman reported on Tuesday.
“I’ve been thinking about, do I want to move to Canada? I don’t know. I’m just so saddened by this thing happening to our country. It’s making me fat. I hear what he [Trump] said now, and I have to go eat pancakes now, and pancakes are very fattening,” said the 76-year-old singer, songwriter, actress, and filmmaker when faced with the possibility of the GOP’s retaining control of the House after the midterms.
Earlier, she had noted that she wanted to sleep nights — and that she would sleep a little better if Democrats took the House.
Haberman characterized the star’s state of mind during the interview as “engulfed” in politics.
Extreme reactions to President Donald Trump and his policies, even over such seeming non-issues as pet ownership, is not new for Streisand, of course.
Earlier this week, she said she was still “a little bit numb” over Donald Trump’s defeat of her buddy Hillary Clinton in the 2016 presidential election.
Pressed repeatedly in her Times interview to comment on a single positive around Trump, Streisand eventually came up with, “He’s a great marketer.”
Perhaps she could use some advice from a solid marketer.
Her new album, “Walls,” is slated for release this Friday. A pre-release of one of the tracks, “Don’t Lie to Me,” takes direct aim at the commander-in-chief.
Lyrics from “Don’t Lie to Me” include “Kings and Queens, crooks and thieves / You don’t see the forest for the trees / Head on heart, down on knees / You can’t see what everyone sees.”
Haberman describes “Walls” as “the musical embodiment of [Barbra Streisand’s] singular dislike of President Trump, and the rare instance of her political views entering her music.”
Streisand did not express concern during the interview that she may risk annoying or even alienating pro-Trump fans with the on-the-nose lyrics peppering songs from the new album.
“It doesn’t matter … Art or music transcends politics, I think,” she said about the possibility of offending those who are fans of hers as well as fans of Trump.
“I probably will turn a lot of people off,” she also admitted in the interview.
“I would lie awake at night with Trump’s outrages running through my head,” Streisand told The Times.
“So I thought, why not make an album about what’s on my mind?”
Streisand seems to be making the rounds prior to the release of “Walls.”
In addition to The Times interview, the Oscar-, Emmy-, and Grammy-winning celeb will be appearing on the CBS “Late Late Show” with host James Corden on Thursday for a round of “Carpool Karaoke.”
They say there’s a first time for everything… can you believe this was my first time singing out loud in a car? Had so much fun with @jkcorden – tune in to @latelateshow Thursday night! #BarbraWalls pic.twitter.com/MFsOF2hzpc

Meanwhile, Streisand continues to ponder leaving the greatest country in the planet.
So tired of these false hopes.. all talk never any action…
