Rapper Kanye West (shown above center) wants to broker a meeting between two very unlikely people: President Donald Trump and former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick (above right).
The president has been highly critical of Kaepernick in the past, particularly the athlete’s role in making national anthem kneeling and other protests in the NFL popular.
“I’ve been calling Colin this morning reaching him so I can bring Colin to the White House and we can remove that ‘son of a b****’ statement, and we can be on the same page,” West told Harvey Levin Monday on “TMZ Live.”
West’s “son of a b****” comment refers to a speech the president gave last year in which he said of national anthem kneelers in the NFL, “Wouldn’t you love to see one of these NFL owners, when somebody disrespects our flag, to say, ‘Get that son of a b**** off the field right now. Out! He’s fired. He’s fired!’”
When asked by Levin whether a person should give up on someone who is too committed to his ideas, West responded, “I love it. You asked me the perfect question. You set me up to win. We never give up on anyone. We never give up on anyone.”
The rapper continued, “Now, let me even make that more positive. We move forward, we give love, we keep going, we keep having the conversation until the conversation turns to love. We keep going.”
West, 41, made headlines over the weekend for performing on “Saturday Night Live,” a typically leftist show, while wearing a Make America Great Again hat.
In a speech that didn’t make the actual episode, West defended both the president and conservatives.
“The blacks weren’t always Democrats. You know, it’s like the plan they did, to take the fathers out [of] the home and put them on welfare. Does anybody know about that? That’s a Democratic plan,” West said.
“There’s so many times I talk to, like, a white person about this and they say, ‘How could you like Trump? He’s racist.’ Well, uh, if I was concerned about racism I would’ve moved out of America a long time ago.”
He added later about Trump, “Thank y’all for giving me this platform. I know some of y’all don’t agree, but y’all be going at that man’s [Donald Trump] neck a lot, and I don’t think it’s actually that helpful.”
“If I was concerned about racism I would’ve moved out of America a long time ago.”
The rapper said he was “bullied” behind the scenes and told not to wear his MAGA hat.
Conservative commentator Candace Owens dubbed West “one of the bravest men” in America for his “SNL” actions.
