3.) Beretta 92F, “Die Hard.” When those who don’t know pistols think of what one looks like, their mind will likely run to the look of the Beretta 92F, which has almost as much screen time in “Die Hard” as Bruce Willis.

Sleek and easy to handle, the Beretta was also put on the map thanks to 1986’s “Lethal Weapon,” in which Riggs (Mel Gibson) memorably used it oh so often.

Producer Joel Silver was behind both movies, along with weapons specialist Michael Papac. With those two blockbusters, they made the Beretta 92F the perfect weapon for the macho heroes of the ’80s silver screen.

The prop pistol from both movies is actually now held at the NRA’s National Firearms Museum in Virginia.
