On This Day… August 5, 1914

The first four-way electric traffic signal was installed at the corner of Euclid Avenue and East 105th Street in Cleveland, Ohio. James Hoge invented this red-and-green light, and Policeman William Potts introduced the addition of the yellow light in the 1920s.
