Paul McCartney and John Lennon met for the first time. John was about to go on stage with his band, The Quarrymen, at Liverpool’s St Peter’s Church and when Paul saw him perform, he said: “I remember John was good. He was really the only outstanding member; all the rest kind of slipped away.”
