Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) had no qualms last week about blasting the Democratic National Committee (DNC) for slapping Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) with a “rigged” 2016 primary. But the progressive senator changed her tune in a Wednesday interview with MassLive when she said the primary process had been “fair.”

Former acting DNC Chair Donna Brazile outraged Sanders’ supporters when she revealed in her new book that the DNC entered into a shady financial agreement with eventual 2016 Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton back in 2015 — well before Clinton had earned the nomination. When CNN’s Jake Tapper asked Warren last week if she thought Brazile’s revelations indicated that the primary was “rigged” in Clinton’s favor, Warren responded, “yes.”

“But what we’ve got to do as Democrats now is we’ve got to hold this party accountable,” Warren had added.

But Brazile appeared to walk back some of her claims in a series of interviews since the book excerpts were published, claiming there was “cancer” in the DNC, but that it wasn’t “rigged.” And now Warren apparently has followed suit.

“I agree with what Donna Brazile has said over the last few days; that while there was some bias at the DNC, the overall 2016 primary process was fair and Hillary made history,” Warren told MassLive.
