White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said she is “starting to regret calling on” reporter April Ryan first during briefings after the two women engaged in a testy back-and-forth Monday.

After Secretary of State Rex Tillerson addressed the press, Sanders took over and opened the floor for questions. Ryan, a CNN political analyst and the White House correspondent for American Urban Radio Networks, received the first question.

After answering Ryan’s first question at length, Sanders attempted to move on to another reporter as Ryan sought to slip in another query about recent tweets President Donald Trump.

“And lastly, on this Twitter, this back and forth Twitter —“ Ryan began.

“I’m sorry, April. I’m going to keep moving,” Sanders interrupted Ryan as she tried to call upon another reporter.

“I understand. But this is a hot story,” Ryan shot back, leading Sanders to reply, “I’m sure that one of your colleagues will happily ask.”

Undeterred, Ryan tried again, saying, “Does the President regret his tweet —”

Sanders retorted, “April, I’m starting to regret calling on you first.”
