Democratic Senator Al Franken is now defending his “friend” Bill Maher — even though he canceled his appearance on Maher’s show after the host used the n-word during an interview with Sen. Ben Sasse.
“Look, I’ve known Bill for years; he’s a friend of mine,” said Franken. “I just didn’t want to sit around for four or five days being attacked for going on the show.”
While the senator admitted Maher crossed the line, he defended him by saying the host “is not a racist” — and once again emphasized their good relationship.
Listen to the clip above for a questionable display of friendship.
