President Obama said on Tuesday that mass shootings only happen in America.

He was, once again, seeking to politicize a shooting, this time one at a Planned Parenthood facility last month.

“I say this every time we have one of these mass shootings. This just doesn’t happen in other countries,” he said during a press conference.

But Obama was speaking in Paris, not far from seven sites where mass shootings exploded last month, leaving 130 dead.

The reporters in the room, though, didn’t bother to follow up on the odd declaration with, say, a question like: “Mr. President, didn’t a mass shooting just take place here in Paris. And didn’t another mass shooting at the Charlie Hebdo magazine this year leave 12 dead?”

No, the press corps moved on to more pressing issues, like climate change.
