Washington Nationals’ Bryce Harper has #RIPHarambe on his bat for batting practice — making a new place for political statements.

His bat was spotted in the batting cage before Thursday’s Game 5 of the National League Division Series at Nationals Park.

Outfielder Harper sported a picture of Harambe, the 17-year-old gorilla shot by Cincinnati Zoo officials to save a boy, age four, who fell into its enclosure over the Memorial Day weekend earlier this year.

The killing became controversial when liberal celebrities and animal lovers took Harambe’s side over that of the little boy’s.

In recent months, Harper has put other emojis and stickers on his bat, including one that read MBFA (Make Baseball Fun Again), a 100 decal for his 100th career home run and a shamrock.

But, no luck this season for the Nats, who lost to the Los Angeles Dodgers in Thursday’s game. They’re done for the season.
