On Wednesday at the Masters in Augusta, Georgia, Gary Player, at age 80, became the oldest golf player to record a hole-in-one at the Masters Par 3 Contest.

Playing with two other icons of the game, Jack Nicklaus and Tom Watson, Player “used the slope on No. 7 to pull the ball back from the right side of the green into the hole on the front left,” as CBS News described it.

It was the 31st hole-in-one for Player in his career.

That wasn’t the only standout news out of Augusta National Golf Club yesterday. Player’s ace was the sixth of the day — and it broke the old Par 3 Contest record of five holes-in-one in a single day. (Then there were three more after Player’s — all in the same day.)
