Bob Iger, the Walt Disney Company’s chairman and CEO, on Wednesday spoke with the family of the toddler who was killed by an alligator at a resort in World Disney World, according to Business Insider and other outlets.

Iger also issued a statement, saying in part, “As a parent and a grandparent, my heart goes out to the Graves family during this time of devastating loss. My thoughts and prayers are with them, and I know everyone at Disney joins me in offering our deepest sympathies.”

The child has been identified as Lane Graves, 2, of Elkhorn, Nebraska. His parents, Matthew Graves, 42, and Melissa Graves, 38, both tried to save their child at the water’s edge.

The police recovered the child’s body on Wednesday. He had most likely drowned, said Orange County Sheriff Jerry Demings.

Matthew Graves works at Omaha Infogroup and has served on the board of the Omaha Chamber of Commerce since 2013.

The parents are unlikely to face any charges, said the Orange County sheriff.

A “no swimming” sign is posted near the water where the child was snatched, but there are no alligator warning signs there, a Disney spokesperson said.
