There’s nothing quite like the Jimmy Buffett brand. His fans, known as “parrotheads,” are more loyal than the average consumer, and Buffett has figured out how to cash in on that loyalty all the way into their golden years.

The “Margaritaville” singer has just closed a deal to open … well, a Margaritaville. The South Florida resident’s company and Minto Communities have reached an agreement to build a retirement community in Florida.

The retirement community will be called “Latitude Margaritaville,” and it will be “inspired by the legendary music and lifestyle of singer, songwriter and best-selling author Jimmy Buffett … Your new home in paradise features exciting recreation, unmatched dining and FINtastic nightlife,” according to the official website.

“Latitude Margaritaville” is expected to open in 2018 near Daytona Beach and will cater to people 55 and over. The development is anticipated to cost a reported $1 billion and will contain around 7,000 homes.

Minto Communities Senior Vice President Bill Bullock said homes in the retirement spot will cost in the “the very low $200,000s to $350,000,” according to ABC News.

In what is either the creepiest or smartest move ever made by a major entertainer, Jimmy Buffett has literally created his own town full of nothing but Jimmy Buffett fans.

A retirement community actually seems like a very logical step for the Buffett brand. The singer’s fans are not just connected to his music, but also to the “no worries” lifestyle he puts forth in his various ventures, which include his own beer, restaurants, resorts, and casinos.

“I have found me a home,” said one Reddit user posting in a “Parrotheads” thread.

“I’m there,” posted a Buffett fan on Twitter.

Many fans on social media were using a quote from Jimmy Buffett — “I’m growing older, but not up” — to show their support.

It appears Jimmy Buffett’s “retirement” will be a tad more profitable than most people’s.
