Late-night host Jimmy Fallon and President Donald Trump seemed to get along well enough in September of 2016, when the-then presidential candidate appeared on Fallon’s program and the two took part in a little lighthearted banter — which ended with Fallon famously messing up Trump’s hair.

Ah, the good old days. In a recent interview for a Hollywood Reporter podcast, Fallon said he “made a mistake” in that interview nearly two years ago. “I did not do it to ‘normalize’ [the president] or to say I believe in his political beliefs or any of that stuff,” the comedian said — practically apologizing for doing the entire interview.

Fallon was criticized at the time for doing too much of a softball interview with a candidate as controversial as Trump.

“It’s tough for morale,” Fallon continued. “You go, ‘All right, we get it. I heard you. You made me feel bad. So now what? Are you happy? I’m depressed. Do you want to push me more? What do you want me to do? You want me to kill myself? What would make you happy? Get over it.'”

The comedian admitted there was a “gang mentality” with the criticism. “People just jump on the train, and some people don’t even want to hear anything else. They’re like, ‘No, you did that!’ You go, ‘Well, just calm down and just look at the whole thing and actually see my body of work,'” he said.

President Trump responded to Fallon’s words on Sunday when he tweeted, “@jimmyfallon is now whimpering to all that he did the famous ‘hair show’ with me (where he seriously messed up my hair), & that he would have now done it differently because it is said to have ‘humanized’ me—he is taking heat. He called & said ‘monster ratings.’ Be a man Jimmy!”

Fallon didn’t have too much to say after those comments from Trump. He simply said he would be donating to charity in Trump’s name.

“In honor of the President’s tweet I’ll be making a donation to RAICES in his name,” he tweeted late on Sunday night. RAICES is a nonprofit group whose name stands for Refugee and Immigrant Center for Education and Legal Services.

Fallon and other late-night hosts attack Trump on a nightly basis and ride that for all they can — but they seem to crumble under pressure when the president bites back. Fallon is perfect proof of this. He gave a good interview with Trump back then, and he’s now bowing to what he openly calls a “gang mentality.”

When Trump calls him out on this, Fallon responds with a pandering tweet telling people he’s donating to a leftist-approved charity. This late-night host is moving fast and hard to the Left, and it’s pathetic to watch.
