Hillary Clinton has been playing BFF to Jay Z, Katy Perry, Lena Dunham, and countless other members of the glitterati. Profanity-laced commercials starring Hollywood’s finest clog up our social media. The Hollywood Left has become increasingly panicked as Donald Trump’s poll numbers have surged thanks to increased scrutiny of Hillary Clinton’s corruption.

To which Donald Trump says, “So what?” And he’s right. Nobody cares.

Trump doesn’t need vapid pop icons. Real Americans don’t need them, either.

The Left’s advantage is that it walks in lockstep with popular culture. Yet when it comes to trotting out these cultural clowns on stage, there’s actually very little benefit that derives from it.

Those on the Left are already in step with Crooked Hillary. They swoon over her every word, refuse to believe that any of the zillions of scandals surrounding her are real, and gleefully swallow the pablum fed to them by their betters. These lemmings see their profanity-spewing pop icons as reinforcing their positions.

They think, “Hey, if Jay Z and Lena Dunham support Crooked Hillary, then she must be eminently qualified to run the country — despite having her maid print out classified emails.”

Actually, they don’t think that at all. They see Jon Bon Jovi and scream how much they love him and the Wicked Witch of Washington.

There are no voters to be gained here.

Surely only the most weak-minded of independent voters will be swayed by this nonsense. The very definition of “independent,” however, suggests that number will be statistically insignificant.

Which takes us to Trump. In a rally last week in Pennsylvania, he said, “I didn’t have to bring J.Lo or Jay Z. I am here all by myself. Just me. No guitar, no piano, no nothing.” A new ad reinforces that position, telling the American people they are “the only force strong enough to save our country from a corrupt political machine.”

Who do you think would win the Presidency?

This is a deceptively simple, yet powerful message. It is directed at real people, at real Americans — the people who work for a living, who don’t care about shiny baubles like rock stars. Trump’s message is a call to the American people in much the same way the John F. Kennedy’s famous phrase was: “Ask not what your country can do for you, but for what you can do for your country.”

For all the criticism that Trump is not a conservative, his messaging certainly resonates with conservative and libertarian values. Saving the country depends on each of us. Our vote counts. Our vote saves the country from corruption. Our vote makes America great again.

Nor does it pander to the American public. It respects us. It not only says Trump doesn’t need vapid pop icons, but that real Americans don’t need them, either. Hollywood does not speak for us. Madonna does not speak for us.
