Joy Reid is in the hot seat yet again — and on Friday she apologized yet again for some of the things she’s written.

Earlier, it had seemed the kerfuffle over an allegedly “homophobic” blog post she made in the past had simmered down — but then along came the Roseanne Barr uproar to throw it from the frying pan back into the fire.

“The fundamental question is: Do you believe the official story of 9/11?” read an old post on Reid’s now-defunct blog, The Reid Report. “If you do, great. If you don’t, then everything that happened after that is called into serious question. Even if you’re agnostic, or you tend to believe that al-Qaida attacked the World Trade Center and Pentagon and that the government had no warning such a thing could happen, it’s worth taking a second look.”

Did Reid write that conspiracy post? (It was captured by the internet archive site The Wayback Machine.) That may be the fundamental question.

“For that matter, why did any of the [WTC] buildings fall …?” Reid’s blog stated, as BuzzFeed reported. “Somehow I think it will be a generation before we get the full story on what happened on 9/11.”

The MSNBC host had gotten attention for blog posts under her name that contained anti-gay comments. Reid initially claimed the incendiary comments were the result of “hackers.” Although she confessed there was no hard evidence to support the hacking claim, she did end up apologizing.

“I hired cybersecurity experts to see if somebody manipulated my words on my former blog, and the reality is they have not been able to prove it,” Reid recently explained on her show.

“But here’s what I know,” she continued. “I generally do not believe I wrote those hateful things because they are completely alien to me. But I can definitely understand based on things I have tweeted and I have written in the past why some people don’t believe me. I am not exempt from being cruel or hurtful to the very people I want to advocate for. I own that. I get it. And for that I am truly, truly story.”

On Friday, June 1, she issued this statement: “While I published my blog, starting in 2005, I wrote thousands of posts in real time on the issues of the day. There are things I deeply regret and am embarrassed by, things I would have said differently and issues where my position has changed. Today I’m sincerely apologizing again.”

Some of the dicier comments Reid made in the past were a twofer: They insulted right-wing pundit Ann Coulter as a “dude” — along with the transgender community.

In a June 13, 2006, blog post at The Reid Report, Reid praised a commentator who asked Ann Coulter to “kill herself.”

Reid introduced the extended comment as “Ad Age’s Media Guy serves up … Dr. Evil Her .. m … self: Ann Coulter”:

Would it kill you, “Godless” author Ann Coulter, to do us all a favor and kill yourself? (Oh, well, yeah, I guess it would kill you.)

After her recent rabidly hateful, foaming-at-the-mouth, sub-human “Today” show appearance — in which she reiterated her assertion that 9/11 widows are “enjoying their husband’s deaths” — even her former supporters began to fantasize about how much nicer the world would be if it were Coulterless.

In April, the LGBTQ advocacy group PFLAG pulled its “Straight for Equality in Media” award to Reid over her incendiary blog posts and tweets.

The Reid Report posts and the MSNBC host’s tweets also led to a suspension of her Daily Beast column. Executive editor Noah Shachtman told the staff in a memo, as Deadline Hollywood reported, that Reid’s column was suspended while an internal investigation into the posts was underway.

“In the meantime, we’re going to hit pause on Reid’s columns,” Shachtman said, until the investigation “has run its course.”

“We’ve all said and done things in our lives that we wish we hadn’t done,” the editor told the staff. “We deserve the room to grow beyond our past. But these allegations are serious enough that they deserve a full examination.”

But all of that was before Thursday — when yet another controversial post from Reid came to light.

Reid apparently sharply criticized CNN’s Wolf Blitzer for being “a former flak for American Israeli Public Affairs Committee” (AIPAC); she also accused the longtime cable news anchor of not hiding “his affinity for his Israeli guests, or his partisanship for their cause.”

The Federalist wrote about the Blitzer post on Thursday — just a day after BuzzFeed discovered a post on Reid’s old blog, showing a photoshopped image of Sen. John McCain’s head on the body of the shooter responsible for the mass carnage 11 years ago, in 2007, at Virginia Tech. Thirty-two people lost their lives, and 17 were wounded.

After a week in which Roseanne Barr lost her TV show over a single incendiary tweet — for which there is no defense — many people are rightfully wondering how Joy Reid is so far avoiding the same fate.
