Mayim Bialik is no stranger to Hollywood. Not only is she a co-star on CBS’s smash “The Big Bang Theory,” she earned her first brush with fame as a teen with NBC’s “Blossom.”

Bialik, 39, knows how the Hollywood system works and what elements aren’t as welcome as others. For a woman of deep faith, that means keeping her religious views more or less to herself.

The actress, who has endured social media hate for simply visiting Israel, opened up about faith in the entertainment industry during a chat with FOX411. She told the site how Hollywood doesn’t embrace the way people like her approach religion. Long story short: Don’t expect to hear stars sharing their faith at the average cocktail party. Openly endorsing religion isn’t “trendy” in her industry, she explains.

Don’t expect to hear stars sharing details of their faith at the average cocktail party.

“There are people I know of faith and we tend to congregate together. I study Jewish texts weekly. That’s something really positive to me when you’re a person of faith. It stays with you all the time,” she told FOX411.

Hollywood has taken a more open approach to faith-based storytelling in recent years, though the transition hasn’t always been smooth. For every modestly budgeted smash like last year’s “Heaven Is for Real,” there have been box office disappointments like “Noah,” which took creative license with biblical inspiration.

A 2014 poll conducted by the Christian News Service found that 43 percent of Christians surveyed say their religion is not fairly portrayed in Hollywood productions.

Bialik has her own website, GrokNation, where she shares her views on culture, parenting, faith and politics. The star caused a stir last year when she discussed breastfeeding her 3-year-old child in public. She is an advocate for attachment parenting, which involves breast-feeding, co-sleeping with infants and positive discipline techniques.

The ninth season of Bialik’s “The Big Bang Theory” premieres Sept. 21 on CBS.
