Hollywood stars gathered Sunday night to give each other awards, and, as usual, they bashed Republicans every chance they got.

It took all of five minutes for Emmy Awards host Andy Samberg to drop a nasty crack against GOP presidential front-runner Donald Trump.

“Donald Trump is running for president, to the delight of uncles everywhere,” Samberg said. People laughed, but that wasn’t the real joke. “I’ve got to say, sure, Donald Trump seems racist … Wait, what else?”

Get it? Trump is racist! Hilarious!

Of course, there was more. Julia Louis-Dreyfus, who won for best female performance in a comedy for HBO’s “Veep,” also attacked Trump.

“What a great honor it must be for you to honor me tonight … Sorry, Donald Trump said that. It’s getting trickier and trickier to satirize this stuff,” said the former “Seinfeld” star, who herself might soon join the billionaire’s club.

Comedians Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele, the duo that turned defending President Barack Obama into an art on their just-wrapped Comedy Central show, also piled on when they appeared as award presenters.

“Sure, Donald Trump seems racist … Wait, what else?”

“There is one category of TV that allows us as a society to sit down and enjoy the simple spectacle reality,” Peele said.

“A strange reality, where people can’t seem to say two words without throwing each other under the bus,” Key replied.

Then Peele answered back: “A reality where a panel of millionaires fight like sharks to be chosen by average middle-class Americans. But enough about the Republican National Convention, let’s get to the award.”

The pair failed to mention the uber-wealthy, inevitable Democrat being shielded from more debates by the Democratic National Committee chairwoman. And while Samberg did hit Hillary Clinton’s rising opponent, the joke was soft and fluffy.

“Is it just me, or does Bernie Sanders always look like his flight is delayed?” Samberg said.

The night also allowed several performers to speak out for transgender civil rights as the Amazon comedy “Transparent,” about an older man who transitions into life as a woman, won several awards.

Show creator Jill Soloway won for outstanding directing for a comedy series, using her podium time to say “we have a trans civil rights problem.”

Star Jeffrey Tambor, named best lead actor in a comedy series, said “people’s lives depend” on his series while accepting his award.

Also not surprising, viewership was way down for the 67th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards. Total-viewer   averaged roughly an 8.7 overnight household rating/14 share, down 20 percent, according to Variety. NBC’s “Sunday Night Football,” however, was a big draw, pulling a 16.3/27 in the overnights.
