During a rally on Saturday, Donald Trump pledged directly to a crowd of concerned New Hampshire voters to pursue policies that would end the opioid addiction crisis that has hit the Granite State particularly hard.

Trump promised that his administration would “bring hope back to our communities” and help the country solve its problems by making trade deals that encourage businesses to thrive.

“This will finally be the year the American people say enough is enough.”

“The wealth has been raided from our country, leaving behind dilapidated communities, rusted out factories and shattered dreams,” Trump said. “I mean, we drive around here and you see buildings that were thriving 20 years ago, and now those companies are located in Mexico and other places. Not gonna happen, folks.”

Trump said improved trade deals that prevent manufacturing jobs from fleeing states like New Hampshire would go a long way to creating new opportunities and restoring hope.

“We’re gonna have trade deals, but we’re gonna have good trade deals. We’re gonna have trade deals where jobs come into our country. We’re gonna have two-lane highways, not one,” Trump told the crowd. “We will become the great jobs magnet of the world. Wages will rise, jobs will return, the factories that I told you about will come rushing back onto our shores.”

The GOP nominee also promised to ensure law enforcement and medical personnel had the support and tools needed to fight back against escalating drug use and overdose nationwide.

In 2015, New Hampshire ranked as the third-highest state for drug deaths per capita, with 394 opioid-related overdose deaths in just that one year. As of early October, the state has already suffered 286 drug overdose-related deaths in 2016.

“It’s a tragedy enough that so many Americans are struggling with life-threatening addiction. We’re going to work with them,” Trump said. “We should not compound that tragedy with government policies and bureaucratic rules that make it even harder for them to get the help that they so desperately need.”

The GOP nominee hit his Democratic opponent, Hillary Clinton, for promising to continue the policies that created an environment in which the opioid epidemic could thrive and destroy lives.

“This will finally be the year the American people say enough is enough,” Trump said. “She [Clinton] is the most corrupt person ever to seek the office of the presidency, and the media, donors, special interests who support her will do everything they can to cling to their power and their prestige at your expense.”
