President-Elect Donald Trump says he helped a Ford Motor Company plant stay in Kentucky.

Trump made the comment on Thursday night in a tweet.

“Just got a call from my friend Bill Ford, Chairman of Ford, who advised me that he will be keeping the Lincoln plant in Kentucky — no Mexico,” Trump tweeted.

Trump was apparently talking about the Lincoln MKC small sport-utility vehicle. It is made at an assembly plant in Louisville.

The media immediately pounced on Trump, saying Ford has never said it was moving the MKC assembly to Mexico.

And they were merciless, digging through Google and the web to find proof that Ford never said it was closing its assembly line in Kentucky and moving it to Mexico.

But according to Bloomberg News, Ford confirmed late Thursday it told Trump its Lincoln SUV will stay in Kentucky.

That didn’t stop Jesse Singal, a New York Magazine writer, from freaking out about Trump’s tweet.

In a late-night tweet-storm, Singal said the claim was “post-truth,” using one of the Left’s cutesy new terms to describe Trump’s election and his communication methods.

Still, Ford and Trump spoke. Something was said that led Trump to believe Ford is listening. Ford had previously said it was shifting some production to Mexico.

Now Ford is under tremendous pressure to keep jobs in the United States.
