In the latest clear indication that NeverTrump Republicans are open supporters of Hillary Clinton, a small group of anti-Trump holdouts are launching a TV ad calling for Trump to drop out of the race.

The 30-second ad, which is titled “Keep Your Word,” was paid for by Free the Delegates, the same group of malcontents who feebly tried to oppose Donald Trump’s nomination at the RNC convention.

The ad plays a clip of an October 2015 interview with NBC where Trump said that he would drop out of the primary race if his poll numbers dropped significantly.

“Number one, I’m not a masochist, and if I was dropping in the polls where I saw I wasn’t going to win, why would I continue?” Trump said in the clip. “I believe in polls. I mean, how many elections do you see where the polls were wrong? Not that many. You see them, but not that many. If I were doing poorly – if I saw myself going down – I’d go back.”

Trump of course continued to lead primary polls and ultimately won the GOP nomination with the most votes in Republican primary history.

But that didn’t stop the NeverTrumpers from calling for Trump to “resign the nomination” in the ad and to “let the RNC replace you so we can beat Hillary.” The people behind this ad no doubt understand how absurd it is to call for the nominee to dropout of the race, particularly as national polls show the race to be tightening. Since the NeverTrumpers no doubt understand this the only real goal of the ad appears to be doing damage to Trump in the general election contest.

The effectively pro-Clinton ad is set to air on Tuesday in key swing states.
