Eight men were killed and at least 40 other people were left wounded during a string of shootings that spread across Chicago over the weekend. One 18-year-old victim was shot in the head and suffered multiple gunshot wounds over the rest of his body.

So where is Black Lives Matter’s outrage over these tragedies?

“But again, this doesn’t fit that ugly narrative of Black Lives Matter and it doesn’t fit Barack Obama’s or Loretta Lynch’s or Mrs. Bill Clinton’s false narrative about the nature of the police use of force in this country.”

The city of Chicago has witnessed the shootings of at least 3,475 people and suffered roughly 595 homicides this year alone. Last year at this time, Chicago experienced 409 homicides and 2,441 shootings. This means that the city has suffered over a thousand more shootings and 186 more homicides during an equal amount of time, according to the data gathered by the Chicago Tribune.

And who is hurt the most by these violent crimes? The African-American community.

A July report from the Lurie’s Children’s Hospital in Chicago found that the homicide rate among African-Americans in the city is 18 times higher than the rate of white homicides. From 2005 — 2015, the homicide rate for African-Americans rose by 28.7 percent as the white homicide rate fell by 40 percent.

These statistics are tragic. But the BLM movement does not care about these deaths. The only deaths the activists care about are those that occur when police officers shoot black men and women.

“But again, this doesn’t fit that ugly narrative of Black Lives Matter and it doesn’t fit Barack Obama’s or Loretta Lynch’s or Mrs. Bill Clinton’s false narrative about the nature of the police use of force in this country,” Milwaukee Sheriff David Clarke said Monday on “The Laura Ingraham Show.” “They claim that it’s a huge threat in the American ghetto — when, in fact, the biggest threat facing black people in the American ghetto is other black people.”

Roughly 90 percent of African-Americans murdered in 2014 were killed by other African-Americans, according to the FBI Uniform Crime Reports. This percentage is consistent with the previous five years’ worth of statistics, as well, hovering around 90 and 91 percent.

Black-on-black crime is a real threat to African-American men and women — particularly those who live in economically depressed areas. So why aren’t BLM activists championing these lives? It’s only the Freddie Grays and Philando Castiles and Alton Sterlings who seem to deserve BLM’s protests and their places on the national stage. All other deaths are dismissed.

“But again, that’s ignored. Donald Trump has talked about it — the hellhole that has become the American ghetto — and he has promised a better quality of life, better schools, better jobs, and safer neighborhoods, if you give him a chance,” Clarke said. “And I think that — and I hope, but I think — I really feel that a lot of black people across America are tired of this crap, too. They’re tired of these failed liberal Democrat policies that run these cities. And they might be willing — if not to go out and vote for Donald Trump — maybe they’d just say, ‘To heck with it — I’m not going to vote for the Democrat either,’ and the whole turnout will hurt Mrs. Bill Clinton and will help Donald Trump.”
