Former campaign adviser Michael Caputo told CNN’s Chris Cuomo on Monday that “the days of the beta Republican presidency” are gone, as Donald Trump has brought America a “very different president and a very different presidency.”

“And I think I’m … one of the people who feel that a robust and even muscular presidency, and someone who speaks their mind is someone I’m comfortable with in the White House,” Caputo said.

Caputo’s comments came as Cuomo continued the mainstream media’s use of author Michael Wolff’s allegation in a controversial new book that Trump has “lost it” and that he is “worse than everybody thought.”

Liberal pundits like Cuomo and Democratic politicians gobbled up Wolff’s error-ridden book — “Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House” — especially the author’s ungrounded speculation that the president is mentally unfit for office.

Trump responded aggressively, blasting “Fake News” and “Fake Books” in a series of tweets, which Cuomo noted included eight on “personal gripes” and only two on “matters of state.”

When Cuomo asked Caputo if Trump is “spending way too much time on the wrong things,” he said no, but acknowledged that “a lot of people, especially those opposing Donald Trump, are uncomfortable with his use of the unfiltered Twitter feed … But I became comfortable with the fact that the president is giving America his unfiltered view on things. People don’t like it. It offends some delicate sensibilities.”

Caputo further defended Trump’s defensive tweets, noting that “the fact of the matter is, this book has come out with some very personal and very visceral, even insulting criticisms of the president of the United States. And he feels compelled to defend himself.”

America just isn’t used to a “very different president and a very different presidency,” he continued, adding that “the days of the beta Republican presidency” are over.

“And I think I’m … one of the people who feel that a robust and even muscular presidency, and someone who speaks their mind is someone I’m comfortable with in the White House,” Caputo said.

But when Cuomo continued his combative line of questions, Caputo said he’s “tired of Republicans rolling over and taking a beating from Democrats, like the author of this book, who is lying through his teeth about what the people in the White House are thinking and the doubts they have about their own president. This book is trash.”
