The young daughter of former Olympic skier Bode Miller tragically drowned during a neighbor’s pool party on Sunday, multiple outlets reported Monday evening — and the tremendous pain for one family is now just beginning.

“We are beyond devastated. Our baby girl, Emmy, passed away yesterday,” the family wrote on Instagram, along with photos of their blond-haired baby girl.

Miller and his wife, Morgan, a professional beach volleyball player, were reportedly at the neighbor’s party in Orange County, California, on Sunday when their 19-month-old daughter, Emeline, somehow ended up in the pool, according to TMZ.

First responders arrived and administered CPR before transporting the child to the hospital, where she died, the website said.

Orange County sheriff’s spokeswoman Carrie Braun said the child’s death is under investigation, according to the Associated Press.

“It is with the utmost sadness that we learned today of the passing of @MillerBode‘s daughter Emmy,” the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Team wrote on Twitter. “The thoughts and prayers of everyone at U.S. Ski & Snowboard and across the whole snowsports world are with Bode, his wife Morgan and their family at this time.”

Capt. Tony Bommarito of the Orange County Fire Authority said paramedics were called to a house in a neighborhood called Coto de Caza just before 6:30 p.m. Saturday, and tried to resuscitate a 19-month-old drowning victim, AP also said.

Emeline was the youngest of Miller’s four children.
