Maternity leave — whatever it may be — rarely feels like enough time to be with a new baby. Many hourly workers aren’t even afforded the opportunity, and new dads still often fight for time away from work to be with their newborns.

So imagine if your company actually offered paid time off for full-time employees who bring home new puppies?

The Scottish craft beer company BrewDog recently announced it will offer puppy parental leave — a full paid week off for all employees to take care of their new dog. After that, your canine can come to work with you. It is, after all, how the two founders started the rapidly growing company: BrewDog was started by two men and a dog back in 2007. Rarely are the two ever seen without their canines, Simcoe and Dr Gonzo.

The owners believe they’ll be the only American company to offer the leave. BrewDog is opening a location in Ohio next week — Dogtap Columbus,  and according to its website and Twitter feed, it’s hiring (a heads up for all dog lovers out there).

“It’s not easy trying to juggle work and settle a new dog into your life, and many members of our crew have four-legged friends at home,” co-founder James Watt said in a statement on the company’s website. “We wanted to take the stress out of the situation and let our teams take the time they need to welcome their new puppy or dog into their family.”

The company, by the way, makes sure all staff get “enhanced paternity and maternity pay” as well.

Another interesting perk of a job with the company: BrewDog has what it calls a Unicorn Fund. Ten percent of the company’s annual profits get split equally among all staff. They also offer a “Dog Years sabbatical program,” in which staff can take four weeks off after five years of employment “to go and do something exciting.” A select few companies in the U.S. had had similar programs in the past — but those were swiftly eliminated in the budget-cutting and downsizing years. Kudos to BrewDog for putting people first.
