“You’re a hero of the First Amendment, in my view,” Fox News host Laura Ingraham of “The Ingraham Angle” said Tuesday night to guest Julianne Benzel, a history teacher in Sacramento, California. “The media, they act like this viewpoint — this pro-life viewpoint — doesn’t even exist.”

“That’s precisely why my very brave student, Brandon Gillespie, chose to stage this [upcoming event on Wednesday] as a pro-life walkout. Not anti-abortion,” explained Benzel (shown above). “We are for all life … Every life matters.”

Benzel is the teacher who was placed on administrative leave last month after she encouraged her Rocklin High School students to consider the broader, sociopolitical implications of the March for Our Lives school walkout — the one that got all the attention. “The Ingraham Angle” has begun a new series this week seeking to “expose the enemies of the First Amendment, free expression, and free thought,” as Ingraham explained on the show.

Prior to that March 14 protest against gun rights, Benzel asked her students about a possible double standard with the walkout that could become problematic in the future. Specifically, she asked the students if they thought the school would sanction a pro-life march in the same way it sanctioned a march for gun control.

Her point, of course, was that facilitating any sort of political protest during school hours sets an unsustainable precedent. It could even set the school up for a discrimination-based lawsuit.

A student of Benzel’s, Brandon Gillespie, adopted a scientific approach to answering the question Benzel posed. His hypothesis was that the school might not treat pro-gun control and pro-life protesters equally.

So he arranged this new walkout — modeling it almost entirely on the March for Our Lives protest. The time of day, the number of minutes off from school time, even the verbiage included on the associated website and call to action mirrors that of the gun control-related walkout.

#ProLifeWalkout targets the violence of the abortion industry.

Gillespie’s walkout for Wednesday, April 11, differs in a single, pivotal detail. Instead of targeting gun violence and the NRA, #ProLifeWalkout targets the violence of the abortion industry — and the vehicle through which the industry delivers the greatest damage: Planned Parenthood.

Wednesday’s walkout is scheduled for 10 a.m. across all time zones and will last 17 minutes. Interested schools and colleges can sign up at ProLifeWalkout.org.
