Many of us know very well the story of Jesus’ passion and death on the cross — but often we don’t delve into the biblical text or the scholarly analysis of it.

The Bible Project breaks down the Gospel of Luke’s chapters 19-23 in a new video that examines Palm Sunday, Holy Thursday, and Good Friday.

“The final week of Jesus’ life culminated in a controversial week in Jerusalem during Passover. In this video we’ll explore the Gospel of Luke chs. 19-23, and how it came about that the innocent Jesus ended up being executed as a revolutionary rebel against Rome. We’ll also see how Jesus was not at all surprised, because He believed that His death would open up a new future for Israel, and for all humanity,” reads the video’s description.
