“I’m so happy for you! No way! Oh my gosh!”

These are about the only audible exclamations among the smiles, laughs, and joyful tears of Lacey and Banks Farris’ extended family as they presented their new baby girl, Finley.

The only twist to this viral video is that none of the family knew Finley was coming. The couple surprised them with their newly adopted baby girl.

The family knew that after four years of infertility, the Farris couple had been looking to adopt. But “they didn’t know we had been matched and were talking to a particular set of parents or anything like that,” Lacey Farris told ABC News.

“My husband’s family lives in Alabama and Tennessee and mine is in Arizona. And we live in California,” she explained. “Since we were in Georgia, we figured it would be an effort, but if we took her around to show up at everyone’s house, what a wonderful video for her to keep throughout life — to know she was so welcomed and how genuinely excited everyone was to meet her.”

The emotional response of friends and family is evident. The beauty in the love for this small little girl by so many people — her family now — illustrates the gift that adoption is.

“We wanted to make sure she viewed her adoption not as something that was weird or taboo, but we wanted it to be just part of who she is,” Lacey Farris said. “We wanted her adoption to be part of her life and part of her story.”

And the reaction from the public since the video has gone viral has been equally supportive and excited.

“We’re overwhelmed by the amount of support and love we’ve gotten from strangers,” said Lacey Farris. “We posted this video to tell Facebook, our friends and family, that we adopted. It was our big reveal. Then the shares everyone did and the amount of love that was poured out was instant.”
