A violent case in which a bank teller tipped off bank robbers about a customer who left the bank loaded with cash is still netting arrests — and big headlines.
It’s called “jugging” — a slang term for robberies that target bank and ATM customers.
Police authorities say that Shelby Taylor Wyse, 25, a cashier at Wallis State Bank in Houston, Texas, is suspected of “tipping off” robbers via text message after a customer made a sizable cash withdrawal, the (Fort Worth) Star-Telegram and other outlets reported.
It all went down like this: At about 9:30 a.m. last Friday, a woman — whom authorities have not yet identified — had just withdrawn $75,000 in cash from Wallis Bank.
She had pulled up to a gas station on Northwest Freeway near Jersey Village in Houston. (The woman is pictured at the gas station in the video still shot, above.)
Shocking and graphic surveillance video released by the Harris County Precinct 4 Constable’s Office then shows the actual robbery. The woman and her husband can be seen struggling with two men — identified as Travonn Johnson and Davis Mitchell — and refusing to let go of the purse, ostensibly containing the cash.
The two criminals finally wrestled the bag from the victims. One of them then threw their car into reverse right into the couple — running over the female victim and dragging the male victim.
The female victim is now expected to live, but she had surgery after injuring her shoulder and back, as the Houston Chronicle reported.
Wyse, the teller who tipped off the robbers, was arrested Wednesday on second-degree felony charges, bringing authorities closer to apprehending all guilty parties in this brutal holdup.
It was revealed during the court hearing that Wyse was dating one of the robbers, Travonn Johnson, and that the leased car he was driving was registered in her name.
The police are attempting to get a warrant to search Wyse’s phone for the text messages she wrote prior to the robbery, according to prosecutors.

The two robbers have been arrested. Davis Dowell Mitchell was charged with aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon at the scene of the crime after a deputy apprehended him, while Travonn Johnson was charged with aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon after turning himself into police.
Police are still searching for a fourth suspect, according to the Star-Telegram.

Ironically, Wyse’s bail is reportedly set at the same amount stolen from the victim: $75,000.
