Students for Life of America, the nation’s largest pro-life youth organization, based in Fredericksburg, Virginia, hit the road Monday with a life-affirming goal: to see Judge Brett Kavanaugh confirmed to the United States Supreme Court.
The eight-state #Justice4life Tour started in Indiana and will end in Colorado on Saturday, August 11. Along the way, they’ll hold pro-life rallies in Missouri, Florida, Maryland, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and Alaska.
“Activism is precisely what is needed, and these young people are the generation to move things in the right direction,” Jean Purcell, a Baltimore-area pro-life advocate and former pregnancy center volunteer, told LifeZette. “Will the mainstream media cover their efforts? Probably not. Is it still a valuable and laudable endeavor? Absolutely — particularly if they can get in front of some lawmakers.”
That’s exactly what this energetic group, nicknamed the “SCOTUS Squad,” is doing: They’re going to sing Kavanaugh’s praises and remind people why his successful confirmation is so critical.
“Students are savvy about the reality that runaway judicial activism has resulted in the radical abortion policies of the United States. This nomination is a chance to restore respect for life to the Supreme Court,” said Kristan Hawkins, Students for Life of America president, in a statement.
“The pro-life generation — the voters, volunteers, and grass-roots activists of the movement — will be asking senators to confirm Judge Kavanaugh to take advantage of this historic opportunity to put a judge on the court who puts the law first, over personal opinion and social activism,” she added.

Hawkins is hopeful that Judge Kavanagh, if confirmed, will help to overturn the landmark case that legalized abortion, Roe v. Wade.

“Just because something is currently legal doesn’t make it right or a reflection of our national values. It’s time to reconsider Roe in light of all we have learned about abortion’s many harms to women and certainly to preborn children,” she said.
The group went to the office of Rep. Tammy Duckworth (D-Ill.) to make the case in person.
“Students for Life of America’s meeting with the staff of Illinois Senator Tammy Duckworth’s staff member went well considering a major difference of opinion on the issue of abortion,” the group wrote on its website Tuesday. “We obviously wanted to encourage Sen. Duckworth to confirm Brett Kavanaugh as the next Supreme Court Justice.

“So we spoke to Judge Kavanaugh’s character and the fact that he is a judge who is fair and just to all, not just those who hold similar political ideology [as] himself,” the post continued. “We brought up the fact that Illinois residents would be happy with the confirmation of Judge Kavanaugh because he is someone who upholds free speech, while also making sure to rule by the law of the Constitution.”
